Robot Vacuum Cleaners - Basic Features Of A Not So Basic
Vacuum
In the world today, for those who are living on the fast lane with hectic schedules and busy life styles, it is
time to take full advantage of all of the benefits that modern society has to offer. When it first came out,
it was already considered an advanced cleaning tool. Now the vacuum has taken another technological twist and
voila! Robot Vacuum cleaners were born.
Although relatively new, there are already quite a few different brands and models for you to choose from when
it comes to Robot Vacuum cleaners. So here are a couple of the basic features of a not so basic vacuum.
Let’s start with the shape and size. Most of the Robot Vacuum cleaners today are round and disk
shaped. Give or take, these are usually 3.5-6 inches high and 13-15 inches wide. So it is so much
tinier and much more compact than the regular kind. This alone is already a great advantage. Think of
just how little space this tiny guy will take up? Storage will never be a problem with a vacuum this
small. It can fit virtually anywhere.
What actually makes these types of vacuums so convenient is the fact that they all pretty much have several
sensors installed. This is what lets the robotic cleaner “know” when there is a wall so that it won’t stop
cleaning when it meets one, when there is a set of stairs or edge of sorts so that it won’t come toppling down, and
even what kind of floor it is on. Basically, you can let it clean linoleum, wood, and even carpet.
A Robot Vacuum cleaner also comes with a rechargeable battery. The docking station actually doubles as
kinda like a storage center and a charger at the same time. Generally, it takes about 8 hours to get fully
charged, however, it is advisable to charge it for 12 hours for the very first time in order to maximize the
capacity of the battery. A full battery will give you about one hour of continuous use. Now, if the battery
is not full, it will still be able to operate but it may not be able to finish the job. One good thing about
this is that it won’t just suddenly stop cleaning in the middle of the room. It also knows when it is running
low and will automatically go back to the docking station.
As for cleaning, it usually comes with a set of brushes that rotates and actually sucks up the dirt into a dirt
pan. So it still has pretty much the same concept of the regular kind except that you do not have to do any
of the work.
The most work that you will have to do is the programming, which is pretty much the press of a button. You
can actually program the Vacuum Robot to clean a specific room or area at a given time of
the day and at a given day of the week. Heck you can even choose what day it should do its job- it can clean
every day, once a week- you decide.
The first type of robotic cleaner for the home was developed by iRobot and given the name Roomba. There have
been quite a few modifications and new models since the first cleaner went into the stores. For instance, you can
get a robot cleaner that is designed to clean homes that have pets (See the Roomba 532). The brushes are longer and the dirt tray is a
bit bigger to accommodate pet hair and other debris that your much loved animal companions might leave around
the house.
iRobot even make a floor cleaning vacuum, known as the Scooba (as
it uses water and a cleaning detergent to do the cleaning). and for the workshop you have the Dirt dog, which is a great name for a heavy duty robotic cleaning appliance. If
you want to do less housework and have more time for the things you want to do then a Roomba or some other robotic
vacuum cleaning product might be just what you are looking for.
