Why You Should Get A Robotic Vacuum Cleaner
As if the very invention of the vacuum weren’t good enough, recent years have given us something even better and
much more advanced - a robotic vacuum cleaner. But why should you trade in something that
has worked very well over the past years? Here are a couple reasons why you should get a robotic vacuum.
Size And Storage
Do you remember how big and bulky the original vacuum cleaner was when it first came out? Although the newer
models are much smaller and even come with detachable parts, when it comes to convenience in size and storage, it
does not even come close to a robotic vacuum cleaner. Even with all the different models and
generations, give or take, they all come to anywhere form 3-6 inches high and 13-15 inches wide. With dimensions
like that, storage will never be a problem again.
Less Work
Small but powerful. Despite the size, these robotic cleaners are sure to get the job done. Most come with a pair
of rotating brushes that suck up dirt and dust on your floor. The newer models even have sensors that can detect
any particularly dirty spot and focus on that area till clean. Usually, there is even a horizontal brush found on
one side of the unit so that it can also sweep the floor and reach other places that the two main brushes
can’t.
More Time
Another great thing about these units is that there is no need for supervision. Basically, all you have to do is
program it so that it will have a specific time and day that it will automatically clean without you having to do a
single thing. You can set it to clean every day, once a week, or even once a month if you like. All of the newer
units come with a docking station, a home base if you will. Not only does this serve as a place for it to be kept
until used, but it is also where the unit can charge. What is pretty amazing is that when the cleaning is done, the
robotic vacuum will head on back to its docking station until it is scheduled to clean again. Heck, even when not
fully charged, once it starts to get low on battery, it also heads on back there too so you never have to worry
about tripping over the thing.
You can practically leave it giving you more time on your hands to either do other chores, work, or even just
take a rest, put up your feet, and relax.
Money Matters
Although most of the newer models come with a rather hefty price tag, there are also those that are very
affordable too. Of course, rule of thumb is that hi-tech comes with a high price. The cheaper ones will have less
features and may not be as thorough. So why not spend on the more expensive kind - in the long run you will come to
see that it is a pretty good investment.
iRobot made the first commercial robotic vacuum cleaner for home use and has steadily developed the
line that they call Roomba. Apparently the first ones had a few bugs in them and also didn't work as well as they
liked. No doubt they have done their own testing and gotten feedback from users on how to improve the products
and add festures that were requested. The infra red towers being a point in case.
There have been quite a few modifications and new models since the first cleaner went into the stores. The last
models are the 7 series (sounds like a Terminator robot !) such as the Roomba 610. The 5 series seems to be the most popular to date as it has a
good mix of good price and large feature set (see the Roomba 536)
iRobot even make a floor cleaning vacuum, known as the Scooba (as
it uses water and a cleaning detergent to do the cleaning). And for the garage the Dirt dog, which is a
great name for a heavy duty, more sturdy robotic cleaning appliance. It has a tough outer shell and is made of
a tough plastic that won't chip or dent. In other words, it'll look better with a bit of dirt and the odd scratch
on it - a bit like Chuck Norris - the Chuck Norris of Roomba vacuum cleaners you could say.
So If you want to do less housework and have more time for the things that are much more enjoyable then you
want a Roomba or some other robotic vacuum cleaning product.
