Roomba ReviewRoomba Review- Taking A Closer Look At This Robotic Vacuum Line

One of the leading brands when it comes to robotic vacuum cleaners is Roomba.  So if you are seriously considering getting one yourself, this is definitely something that you ought to take a look at.  Now, over the years, just like any other product, the creators behind Roomba have come out with various models continuously trying to make each one better than the last.  So here is a simple Roomba review - taking a closer look at this robotic vacuum line.

General Description

Despite the various changes that were put into different models, all of these robotic vacuum cleaners have the same round disk shape and come to be 3.5 inches high and have a diameter of 13.4 inches.  Plus, each one also comes with an omnidirectional infrared sensor located on top in the front at the very center.  Some, but not all, even come with a carrying handle.

Another unifying feature among all units is what is used to do its job.  Roomba vacuums basically have two brushes that rotate in opposite directions.  Almost all models even have a squeegee vacuum to follow up.  This kinda like double checks for any dirt or dust that might have been left behind.  There is also a brush on the right side that is used to sweep against walls or obstacles that it may encounter so that it can thoroughly clean the area and get to the parts that the two main brushes cannot reach.

All of these also come with rechargeable nickel-metal hydride batteries.  The first few models that came out charge using a wall plug which takes about 8 hours to charge, but the later versions all have a dock station that takes only about 3 hours to charge, which is kinda like a home base of sorts that they automatically go to when the cleaning is done or when running low on batt.

Also, all units have infrared sensors.  This is what allows it to detect when it is coming up to a wall or obstacle of sorts and when it reaches an edge, like stairs, so that it won’t fall off.  The newer models have sensors that can even detect particularly dirty spots making the vacuum robot focus on that area- how cool is that?

Generation By Generation

Currently, the Roomba has already come out with three generations of robotic vacuum cleaners.  The first generation which showcased 3 different units- the original Roomba, the Roomba Pro, and the Roomba Pro Elite.  The second generation has the Discovery series, aka the 400 series- this is also when the budget models came out, the Dirt Dog and Model 401 (see the Roomba 44001).  The third generation has the 500 series (see the Roomba 560).  The very latest is the 700 series.

With every generation comes new and improved features to make each one even better than the last.  Just like everything else, even robotic vacuum cleaners have to keep up with the changing times, as if the whole product line itself hasn’t done that already.
